Haven't updated in a while, eh!

So after slagging off my boyfriend the whole weekend that he should stop going on about having the "flu" & should "get over it", I wake up to find that I have the cold that he was suffering from and it's AWFUL! I take back all those awful things I said! Crazy ear ache and horrible sore throat, thumbs down.

Been in the flat since Sunday and was only yesterday that I started feeling slightly better and last night I managed to have a full nights sleep! That was the main thing that was getting me down, waking up every hour is not fun :(

Also, because he is lovely, Graeme is taking me out for dinner tonight to the Thai Fountain @ Woodside Crescent tonight. We went there for Valentines last year and it was ace, and thai food is awesome so I can't wait.

University is going not too bad, I got 86% on my last pathophysiology test and I thought I had done pretty badly in it, still got another one in a few weeks time as well as an essay to hand in.

Managed to hand in my sociology essay on time after struggling with it all week: "Outline some of the main ways in which gender identities are socially constructed" - I DON'T CARE. I have no idea what I was babbling on about in it as I was mainly doped up on Lemsip and painkillers, so we'll see how hilarious my marks are when I get that back.

Also I need to start looking at research papers as well as I have a research report due in 3 weeks time.

Basically all my course work is coming at once right now, I hate this time of year :(

Work is still alright, bit weird going into wards every weekend and having no idea how they work and what their staff dynamic is, but as long as I keep my head down and just try to help as much as possible, it's all good. If I hate the ward, I don't need to go back. I'm in orthapedic surgery (blah) @ the Victoria and the renal dialysis unit @ Gartnavel this coming week.

Not much else has been happening, been out to the Classic Grand a couple of times, but it's getting old hat and I am getting bored of it, fewer and fewer people I actually like seem to go out. On the other hand, got Jen-Y's birthday party at the old flat coming up and before that we are going to Graeme's aunts house for one of her legendary meals. I have missed every one of them before and they sound awesome, but this time I get to go, yey!

Right, better jump in the shower as I am meeting Fiona & Simon for some chat and a wander around town.

PS - Spotify is pretty awesome, eh!

I've just done my research level 3, and have the things if you want something to bounce around?

I'm still to pick my research question and have a look at everything, but if you have any information to send me that would be awesome, my email address is srober47@caledonian.ac.uk :) thanks!

Thank you! I was sure I read the mark off the wrong matric number so I checked about 3 times! Ye of little faith, haha.

I've never done a research module or anything like that, so it's all pretty new to me. We're meant to develop a question first, before looking for an article, but I have found an article I like already so I think I'll just make the question work for that instead ;)

I always find semester B so hard, because at this point in the game my motivation and concentration are really crap and I just want it to be summer so I can bum about and do nothing, haha xxxx

Do you guys have to go in for Semester C/post semester?

I reckon using the article you like is a good idea :-)

YES :| I hate it, I was working in a medical ward in the Vic and some students where in as well and they said you get a holidy in like June or July? We go straight in from the exam period and we start on placement on June for 12 weeks. No break.

It's shit because my boyfriend is a primary school teacher so I never get a holiday with him, the most I'll be able to wangle with my shifts is a long weekend. Then I have the full month of Sept to sit about my tod! Great!

This year we have July off then go into our last 2nd year placement, looks like it will fall back to back with our first 3rd year placement. Will be nice having July off but the back to back placements might be a bit scary!

Post semester sucks, sitting in hot classrooms on sunny days when the rest of the uni is away :-(

2 placements running back to back will suck so much! Why did I ever choose to do nursing?! Haha, at least it means you need to be sort of motivated to do the course, eh! In the honours year we don't do any placements and I can't tell you HOW MUCH I am looking forward to it.

A 30 week academic year then graduation sounds so excellent, it's untrue.

I did pharmacy before doing nursing so unfortunatly I know how great it was just to have a 'normal' Uni year :(

Do you know your placements yet? Because of my auxiliary work I know I don't like ortho surgery or rehabilition, but I BET I end up there for 6 weeks!

And yeah, I completely agree about the second semester being tougher due to the climate. There's that inescapable feeling of "nearly done", despite the fact that we have to finish our courses (i.e. complete exams). I'M SURE it leads to lower grades because we're far less motivated. Anyway, pure time & place.

Big time. It's shit. Everyone is stress or ill, which is probably due to the stress! & of course the weather get's better etc.

I was commenting earlier and nurses have a semester C/post semester B so I am on placement for 12 weeks of the summer and I have study days as well, the Uni is SO quiet, it's unreal. Trying to get motivated to do 3 x 12 hour shifts in the hospital when it is BEAUTIFUL outside is not going to be fun :(

Why did I choose nursing, thumbs down.

Oddly enough, I'm writing an essay on homosexual identities, wayhey.

86% is really good, well done :)

You should've done my essay for me ;) I legit hate sociology & I am only forcing my way through it because I know I need to module. Glad to see you back on LJ! xxx
